Thermal transfer ribbon is a roll-shaped ink ribbon that is used to print with the thermal transfer method.

Thermal transfer ribbon contains three layers. There is a film layer in the middle of the Ribbon. One side of this layer has liquid ink, and the other side has protective layer. Solid ink on polyester film becomes liquid by heating the thermal printhead and then transferred to label surface, printing is provided.

Thermal transfer ribbon is divided into three groups according to the chemicals it contains: Wax, Wax Resin and Resin. In addition, there are two types, flat head and Near edge, depending on the type of printhead.

For the print quality to be perfect, the barcode printer, ribbons and the surface to be printed must be compatible with each other.
